Trip CA2 i Llwyn Bryn Dinas - KS2 Trip to Llwyn Bryn Dinas
Heddiw, ar 14 Hydref, CA2 a staff yn dringo'r bryn gaer hynafol o 'Llwyn Bryn Dinas', uwchben Llangedwyn.
Cafodd pawb brynhawn gwych, dysgu am strwythur y fryngaer a'r hyn a fyddai wedi bod yn eu 2,500 o flynyddoedd yn ôl.
Diolch yn fawr iawn at y teulu Hayward a ddarparodd y cludiant i'r bryn, rhad ac am ddim!

Today, on October 14th, KS2 and staff climbed the ancient hill fort of 'Llwyn Bryn Dinas', above Llangedwyn.
From the top, the whole of the Tanat Valley could be seen and the children recieved an insight as to what life would have been like living in an Iron Age hillfort, 2500 years ago.
The man-made ramparts are still clearly visible, as well as the old entrance with a steep climb from the valley bottom. The children were shown where an iron crucible used for bronze casting was found during an excavation in 1983. The copper used during the bronze casting was from Llanymynech hill fort which can be seen in the distance towards the east.
Before having lunch, overlooking the west of the valley, the children learnt about why it was such a good location for a fort, being so high up. After lunch, the children re-enacted both friendly and enemy tribes entering the fort as well as carrying out an archaeological search around the fort, before heading back down.
A huge thank you to the Hayward family who provided transport to the hill, free of charge!

Please note: If you are thinking of walking up Llwyn Bryn Dinas yourself, you MUST ask permission before doing so as it is private land and the walk up passes through a game reserve.
